Fun Fact #3

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Friday, October 21, 2016,
Istanbul is a HUGE city!  Did you discover that when you were researching Turkey?

Here are a couple fun things I learned about Istanbul:  the city is 3000 years old.  Can you even believe that?  Also, the city is on 2 different continents.  What?  How is that even possible?  Are there any other cities that span 2 continents?  Any other countries that are on two continents?

I am still loving cikolate bread every morning and spending time playing with, reading to, watching movies with, and walk...

Life in Turkey

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Monday, October 17, 2016,
As I am writing this it is 11:07 pm in Turkey and 3:07 where you are.  I expect you are researching Turkey right now.  Email me your questions and I'll do my best to answer them.

It has been so good to see our grandkids Jack and Lydia and our son John and his wife Pam but the trip has not been without it's interesting highs and lows.

The first leg of our trip was on a tiny tiny plane that only had 13 rows and we were in row 12!!  Weird.  Only 2 seats per side so we got to sit by eachother only....

So many questions, so little time.

As you know, I am going to be gone next week and YOU will get a chance to learn all about Turkey in your Exploration time.  You can also email me questions about what I am doing and what I am finding in Turkey.

You can also put some question on the blog.  What are you currently wondering about Istanbul?

Identification of Trees by Leaves is HARD!!

Wow, our heads were spinning as we tried and tried to classify leaves based on the leaves we collected on our school yard.  We found some really pretty leaves.  We found some interesting leaves.  We had some great discussions about the characteristics of the leaves and what that means to what kind of tree it is.  Thanks for all your hard work guys.  It was a hard assignment.  We will work on it tomorrow after ART with KYLE and try to wrap it up.

The 5th graders are having a fabulous time.  I a...
