Carlson Art and Science Fair
Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Tuesday, January 26, 2016,
The Carlson Art and Science Fair was a big hit. Man, kids worked so hard and learned so much. What a fun way to show off what you learned. In my mind we need to make it an Exploration next year and present our findings or art pieces in class. What do you think? Voice your opinion about that on the blog and you can have 4 tickets tomorrow.

Parts of a Whole
Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Monday, January 25, 2016,
Ten kids have remembered to bring in their baby pictures so far. Of those, 4 are from our room and the other 6 are from Mrs. Stonehouse's room. Blog a comment about the fractions and decimals and percents you notice in that and you can have 2 tickets tomorrow. Think of what part this is of the whole group and make some more fractions and decimals and percents that you notice. 2 more tickets if you blog 'em. Additionally, 6 kids in our room have finished their research papers and posted t...

Another Weekend Underway
Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Friday, January 22, 2016,
So Lauren, the girl from my class last year, says the ticket question should have to do with our read aloud book. SO here it is...sum up what Jordie is so upset about and tell what things he's glad he's doing that he's hoping will distract him. Then, respond to a couple other kids comments. 4 tickets for the first and 2 for each response.
Find fractions everywhere you look this weekend--the pound of butter, the eggs in the carton, the toilet paper rolls in the bag, and so on.
Don't forget to...

Explorations on Display
Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Thursday, January 21, 2016,
Did you feel like our classroom was on display yesterday? It kind of was. It will be again next Tuesday. How cool for the next round of exploration kids to have a place to visit before they have to make their decision.
Today's ticket question has to do with how we have the groups split up for social studies and science. As we are nearing the half way point of being done with this, I would like you to consider if you think it has been a good arrangement to have the boys in one class and the...

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Monday, January 18, 2016,
What are you doing on your day off? Did you tell your family all about MLK and his civil rights movement and how it was to be peaceful? Tell them today. Why are you celebrating MLK day today? How are you celebrating? Today's ticket question is to 1. tell something interesting that you discovered about MLK and his life or speech or peaceful civil rights movement; and 2. Write about your feelings and thoughts on how far we've come or the lack of growth we've shown in civil rights from 1963...

How was your day with the sub? Were you good to this person? I hope so!!
Blog a comment that tells how YOU were for the sub (no using names of classmates unless you want to compliment them on exemplary behavior) and how YOU think the day went (no dissing classmates, reporting misbehaviors of others etc.) and you can have 4 tickets on Wednesday. Any one who does tell on or report on a classmate in this forum will lose the privilege of winning something in the ticket drawing on Friday.

Happy New Year!
Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Friday, January 1, 2016,
I can't believe it's 2016. Oh man, I must really be getting old. How old will I turn this year since I was born in 1960? My husband is so happy because he will actually have a birthday this year! How many birthdays will this be for my husband if he was born in 1960 just like me? Remember, his birthday is February 29 so it's not the same answer as how many years has he been alive. Be the first 5 to blog an answer to the above questions and you can have 10 tickets on Monday.
Did anyone hap...
