Have Fun! Be Safe!!

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Friday, October 30, 2015,
Tomorrow is Halloween so I am sure you will be out having fun.  Just remember to be safe.  Safety first!  We had a fun party at school complete with Scooby Doo movies, our very own Scooby Doo mascot (looked great, Robbie) and LOTS of yummy witches brew.  We had so much food that I was able to give you all a bag of it to take home.  It was good!

On Monday we are starting our exploration "Where in the World".  Brainstorm over the weekend with mom and dad about what you think that means, what pos...

Tonight's ticket question is, "Who is playing in the World Series?"  [4 tickets if you name them in a blog comment]  The famous final baseball series of the season started tonight.  It is called the World Series.  The Twins have won the World Series a couple times in my life time.  [4 tickets if you blog a comment saying what years the Twins won]  Finally, how many games do they play in the World Series?  [4 tickets if you blog the right answer to this question]

Happy Birthday to Robbie and Ol...

What? Blocking Scratch? Who Does that Stuff?

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Monday, October 26, 2015,
Please don't panic, I am sure we will have scratch unblocked soon.  Olivia told me she could always get on.  She has scratch bookmarked.  Hmm...maybe you should all bookmark it.  I just don't get how one second it works just fine and the next second everyone is getting a blocked message.  So weird.  Mrs. Kendall is all over it and working hard to get it fixed.  Time will tell I guess.  We will have to check back tomorrow.

There is a symmetry piece of homework that is mostly fun to do.  Do a bi...

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Friday, October 23, 2015,
What a fun day we had writing code.  Jake was a great teacher, do you agree?  What was the best part of writing code today in your opinion?  Answer that question in a blog comment and you can have 6 tickets on Monday.  Remember that your math homework involves writing on the blog and blogging things too so...you should have a busy computer weekend.

IF you don't have a computer at home, what can you try to use?  You can blog from iphones and ipads.  You can also go to the public library nearest...

Great Job on the Museum Everybody!

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Saturday, October 17, 2015,
Wow!  You all did a great job on your Native American Studies project.  I was very impressed with your artifacts and your online presentations and your museum exhibits in general.  Way to go!!

Did you see that I built my own habitat in my own back yard woods yesterday?  My son, John, and I built it.  We tried to make his son, Jack, go in but he cried and cried.  I couldn't believe it.  It was so cool and he wouldn't even go in.  Grr...I put a picture of my habitat on the student tab.  Check ...

Short Week Ahead!

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Tuesday, October 13, 2015,
This week is going to fly by, especially since it's already 1/3 over!

It was great to have the 5th graders back and to hear their fun stories of fire alarms at 4:30 am and the rock climbing wall and archery and Base to Charlie and...the bread!  Mostly everyone's favorite thing about the food was the bread!  I hope I get to go next year and experience the big trip.

We reported how we did cup stacking, k'nex, block building, luna sticks, Yahtzee with my mom and Mrs. Barkve and stuff like that.  W...

Posting Late Again Tonight

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Friday, October 9, 2015,
sorry everyone!  Tonight after school I had a meeting at the district center with Mrs. Tate who stopped by our room today.  She is so nice, wouldn't you agree?  Then I had to go to Target to get prizes for the prize bucket.  I got some fun stuff.  I also got a new roll (is it roll or role) of tickets.  Research which kind of role/roll you think is for tickets, blog your findings and get 6 tickets tomorrow morning.

Have a great evening.

Sorry Robbie!

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Thursday, October 8, 2015,
I changed the kryptos.  Tomorrow's big job is to get the Storehouse kids on the blog and show them what to do to earn tickets.  I will have to give them time to earn tickets in class I guess.  Can anyone blog an idea of how that might work?  See you tomorrow.

He also has taken classes at a seminary. He wrote a book called "The Historia" which you can buy on Amazon.com. He was a hockey player and played college hockey at Bethel. His wife is a lawyer worked at a big law firm in Minneapolis. Cool! Hey, guess what. I am a lawyer too!! This will be my 13th year teaching as I practiced law for over 15 years. Teaching is way more fun!! Now they are living in Turkey and simply trying to learn the language and make connections. This year my son will be teaching high school world history at an international school. __________My son Jim lives in Blaine with his wife Courtney. They both graduated from Winona State where they were star pitchers on their baseball and softball teams. Jim graduated from St. Thomas School of Law.
