The pond was perfect today. I can NOT schedule anymore outdoor skating dates as that simply ruins the ice. With no threat of us skating on it the ice was beautiful today.
Have a great weekend. Get outside and soak up some sunshine, some fresh air and hope for some snow. Rest up as next week promises to be busy--Train Research Project, Winter Carnival, I love to Read activities, Pennies for Patients, Pulleys, Social Studies, and more. Mrs. Kovacs

Gym Time Rocks!
Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Thursday, January 29, 2015,
I sure had fun after school yesterday shooting baskets with you guys. You guys are great ball players. I had no idea. Did you see Ms. Schiele's shot? She is AMAZING at basket ball. Did you know Ms. Dahlem is a great basket ball player too? In fact, after she played college ball she was a referee in the WNBA and for college ball for years. She is retired now but she had a great career in basketball.
Blog a comment to let me know whether or not you enjoyed your time in the gym.

Outing Still ON Though Altered
Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Monday, January 26, 2015,
Tomorrow's "Outing with Mrs. K" has been changed to an "Inning". Ha Ha
Due to the warm temps our ice pond is more like a puddle than an ice rink so we will NOT be skating tomorrow. We will be playing games (Feel free to bring one from home) and eating (if anyone brings food) and heading to the gym for floor hockey and basketball.
There was also a time change. It will be over by 5:00 pm so make sure your ride knows that.
See you tomorrow.

Outing With Mrs. K Moved to Tuesday
Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Wednesday, January 21, 2015,
We are 0 for 2 on scheduling ice skating outings. Can you believe it's supposed to be 38 degrees on Friday? Yikes.
So, rescheduled it for Tuesday. There is a permission slip/invitation of the event that went home today.
We are reading the actual "I Have A Dream Speech" given by Martin Luther King, Jr. this week. Each kid has a part and we are performing it as a chorale reading. Practice your part at home and get help with some of the pronunciations of the really hard words. There are so...

The Pond's Been Shoveled!
Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Monday, January 19, 2015,
Ok wonderful kids, who came and shoveled the pond? I was so doing the happy dance when I drove up this morning and saw the WHOLE ENTIRE POND is cleared off and ready for fun. We will spend some time on the pond every day this week. I'm pumped! Thank you , thank you, thank you, to the lovely people who came and did the hard work.
In other news, the computers still are not working well at WBL Area Schools. Hopefully they can get it resolved before you get back to school on Wednesday. I am ...

Martin Luther King Day and the End of a Semester
Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Saturday, January 17, 2015,
What do you get when you add Martin Luther King Jr. Day and the end of quarter 2, semester 1? That's right, 4 days off of school for students. What about teachers? A work day to do report cards and prepare for conferences AND a staff development day where you can hash out the curriculum and talk about "best practice" with your teacher friends. I actually miss you guys on days like that and wish you were at school with me!
So Lauren and Maija and Katelyn and Rachel and Destiny: if you can ...

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow
Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Thursday, January 8, 2015,
Don't you just love a pretty snowfall? I sure do. I could do without the wind chills and the blowing and drifting and the icy roads but...my husband and sons who love to snowmobile are SO EXCITED!! Next week it is supposed to be a bit warmer so with any luck we can hit the habitats and maybe get some ice time in on the pond. If anyone has the ability to come and shovel or snow blow over the weekend we will LOVE YOU for it. That's about all I can promise.
Have a warm evening and make you...

Health and Nutrition
Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Thursday, January 8, 2015,
Our new writing project is all about nutrition and health. What topic ideas are your throwing around or mulling over in your head? The food pyramid? What is a balanced diet and what are the requirements from the food groups? No, kids, candy is NOT one of the food groups. What would a healthy breakfast be? How much exercise does a 5th grader need? What are some ways to get the exercise a kid needs?
Blog a couple topic ideas and you can have a couple tickets tomorrow. Claim a topic as yo...

Have a great night.
