At School Missing You

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Thursday, February 28, 2013,
It's not that fun to be at school when you guys aren't here.  I am having fun connecting and planning with Ms. Schiele and Ms. Stamson but otherwise...not that fun.

A couple fun things coming up!  Monday we are going to do a fun I LOVE TO READ thing with Schiele's class.  They are going to wear pajamas.  Do you want to?  Wear them if you want.  In any event, wear cozy things like sweats or warm up pants.  We are going to get comfy.   Blog a comment about what you are going to wear on Monday so...

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Wednesday, February 20, 2013,
Mrs. Mielke and I figured out how the misunderstanding occured.  She gave you lots of compliments and said you were very well behaved and fantastic role models during the practice.  She went on to say you are turning out to be one of her favorite classes.  Way to go guys.  Thanks for helping out in a difficult situation.  You made the most of it and for that we are grateful.

Tomorrow is DARE and then the performance of the show in the afternoon.  Don't let me forget to take the TRAIN poster p...

6/24 or 1/4 Shoveled Today

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Tuesday, February 12, 2013,

We tried to shovel but we didn't get very far.  Calling any and all adults who would like to give it a whirl--we are accepting help!!  We need to get the heavy snow off the rink so the sun can melt the weird crust that has formed on top of our nice ice.  I scraped some crust off today and there is nice ice underneath.

We saw really cool animal tracks in the ice today.  Way cool how they are imbedded in the ice and snow crust.

Have a great evening and stop by and scrape or shovel if you have the...

Monday's Are Rough

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Monday, February 11, 2013,

Based on the reports at morning meeting it sounds like we ALL had a busy, exhausting weekend.  That probably adds to the roughness of the Monday morning.  Oh well, I thought we had a great day and it really flew by.  I love those actors who put on the one person show.  Wasn't the woman today FANTASTIC?!  I thought she was.

Tomorrow we will work more on our written interview.  It is not due yet.

Have your math homework from the weekend here and ready to go, please.  We will get to it tomorrow...

Fa La La La La

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Friday, February 8, 2013,
I am going to the Tonic Sol Fa concert tonight.  I am really pumped.  They are an a cappella group that is funny and fun and silly and pretty good!  I just like to be doing something different than a movie or whatever I usually do.

Cody was amazing in his hockey game last night.  Good luck to him and his team the rest of the weekend in the Moose Goheen Tournament.  I hope to see Noah tomorrow night.  I will have my nieces with me as I am babysitting all weekend long.  Good luck to the team wit...

Isn't it fun to get compliments from the big guy who is in charge of the whole school district?  Really fun!  You know how I feel about it--I love you and I want eveyone else to also!!

Hopefully tomorrow we will get back outside.  I think I was a ton more sluggish and tired all because we didin't go outside today.  Tomorrow we are out for sure.

Have a great night.  Train presentations and friendship skits the rest of the week.     Mrs. Kovacs

Big Super Bowl Excitement

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Friday, February 1, 2013,
I can't wait for Sunday to see who wins.  Mr. Oppenheim grew up in Baltimore so of course he is a Raven's fan.  I think I would be a Vikings fan even if I moved to somewhere else.  I hope it is an exciting game and now that I know Mr. O is such a big fan I am kind of cheering for the Ravens.  Go Ravens.

It was really fun to prank his class but I will say I think some of us got a bit carried away and so we will need to think long and hard before we can try to prank someone again.  Do you know w...

I also have 3 grandchildren, Jack and Lydia, who are the kids of my oldest son and his wife, and Baby Kennedy who is the newborn of my second son and his wife. The older kids are 5 and 2. My family lives in White Bear Lake. ____________My son John is married and lives in Turkey with his wife Pamela and son Jack and daughter Lydia. Hey, that makes me a grandmother--yikes! John is a teacher too. A couple years ago he taught at White Bear Lake but for the last couple years he's been teaching social studies to middle school kids at Hope Academy in Minneapolis. He also has taken classes at a seminary. He wrote a book called "The Historia" which you can buy on Amazon.com. He was a hockey player and played college hockey at Bethel. His wife is a lawyer worked at a big law firm in Minneapolis. Cool! Hey, guess what. I am a lawyer too!! This will be my 13th year teaching as I practiced law for over 15 years. Teaching is way more fun!! Now they are living in Turkey and simply trying to learn the language and make connections. This year my son will be teaching high school world history at an international school. __________My son Jim lives in Blaine with his wife Courtney. They both graduated from Winona State where they were star pitchers on their baseball and softball teams. Jim graduated from St. Thomas School of Law. He clerked for a judge and now he works for a law firm in Golden Valley. His wife graduated from Des Moines University Medical School where she studied to be a physical therapist. She works for Twin Cities Orthopedics. You can check out pictures of their wedding on the summer vacation tab. __________My son Joe graduated from Moorhead State. He, like his brothers was a good athlete and loved sports. He also is a great singer and performer and was Danny Zuko in Grease, Gaston in Beauty and the Beast, and Curly in Oklahoma--all in WBL high school. He has a teaching license and did some long term subbing in WBL most recently at Hugo Elementary School. Next he worked at Infinite Campus training teachers on software that his employer makes. He got to travel all over the United States. He is married to Emily, and there are pictures of them you can check out on the vacation tab as well. Emily is a pharmacist for CVS in Targets. They just moved to Washington DC so he could attend George Washington University and get an MBA. __________My son Jake graduated from University of Minnesota with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science. He is a superstar in math. He was a TA for a professor in the computer science department. He really likes to golf and was on the White Bear Lake golf team. He worked at Gem Lake so if you ever golf there, you may have seen Jake. Do you like golf? As soon as he graduated he started working full time at a company that writes online computer games. He spends his day writing code to create games. He loves that kind of writing, do you? He taught many of my students to write code in Scratch. _________Vlad officially became our son in June of 2010 although we have loved him since we met him a couple years before that. We traveled to his homeland, Latvia, 3 times to make him ours. He has been living with us since March of 2010. He graduated from WBL High School too. He traveled to China with the high school a couple years ago and wants to go back. Can you believe that you can travel with your classmates and friends when you are in high school? He is currently a senior at the University of Wisconsin, River Falls. He spent a semester in Seoul, S. Korea in a study abroad program through River Falls. We will officially be empty nesters. _________My husband John works for Collins Electrical Company as a project manager but he is amazing with computers. He set up this web site for me!! Thanks John.
