Finally!!

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Thursday, March 29, 2012,
My computers at home are acting so weird but I remembered to do this at school today so, finally, an updated blog comment.

PJ thinks we should have the chance to sit in the adorondack chair as part of our 3D display be a prize and I think he's right.  I figure we need around 5 people to sit there sometime throughout the course of the morning tomorrow.  Do you want it to be you?  Hmmm...we have MCA math practice test in the computer lab at 9:30 but then...read in the chair as part of the displ...

Spring Break is Over 1/2 Over

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Thursday, March 22, 2012,
How are you coming on the stuff I sent home?  Did anyone count how many things they wanted to get done and then divide it by how many days you had to do it and then figure out how much you had to get done each day?  Let me just say, if you haven't even looked at it yet, it's time.  Remember, you are supposed to "reflect" as you go through on what you need to practice and what you already know.  This is your chance to see some problems the like of which you haven't seen in a long time.  Practi...

Don't Panic

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Friday, March 16, 2012,
Yes, a ginormous amount of stuff to consider and look at was sent home.  Is it all required to do?  No!!  Have mom or dad or grandma or grandpa read my note on the Peek of the week.  Relook at the directions on the pages themselves.  Check the homework tab on this site.  It's all good.  It's your job to sort through and reflect on what you need to practice and what you already know.

I am hoping you all get lots of outside time during our spring break.

Here is a new word ladder:   vowels:  o  ...

Community Service Rocks

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Thursday, March 15, 2012,
Today we did our community service project and it was FUN!!  We picked up two large trash bags FULL of yucky litter.  We learned how painful it is to clean up after someone else's mess.  We won't be littering oursevles anytime soon.  Hey, did you know that it is illegal to litter.  You can be fined and maybe even sentenced to cleaning up litter if you are caught littering.  Just don't do it.

Large number multiplying is so much fun and you were all catching on.  Way to go!  We will work on it s...

A Nature Walk

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Wednesday, March 14, 2012,
On our "noticing nature" walk today we noticed some NOT nature garbage is piled up all over the sidewalk and boardwalk.  Tomorrow we are going to do a bit of community service and pick that up.  We will be trash monsters.  If you think to grab some target bags to hold trash, that would be great.

It's time for a new word ladder.  It seems we've come up with a lot of words from the letters of procrastination already so lets move on.   The new letters are:
       vowels:   e  a  a  i  o         ...

Same Word Ladder

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Tuesday, March 13, 2012,
Though several of you have gotten many many words, we still don't have the big word.  It is a word we talked about at school today and in fact, it shows up somewhere else on this website.  Hmm...I wonder where it could be.

Please feel free to add clues for words and then respond to other people's clues.  You get tickets for both things.  You need to read the rules (in yesterday's post) and know how many tickets you should be getting.  Rachel and Hunter both need to get some for yesterday still...

Word Ladder and Ticket Opps

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Monday, March 12, 2012,
Sorry about the lack of word ladder on the weekend post.  Here it is now:
vowels= e a o a i               and the consenants = p r c r s t n t

This time, for every blog word clue you give for a word you can build you can have 1 ticket for every 2 letters the word has in it.  So a 4 letter word gets you 2 tickets.  A 6 letter word gets you 3 tickets, etc.  If you have an odd number, you have to drop down to the nearest even number.  So...happy word clue blogging.

See you tomorrow.    Mrs. Kovacs...

Good Morning, My Darlings

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Wednesday, March 7, 2012,
I am getting a glimpse into how much I am going to miss you next year and it is not good.  Just knowing that I had to stay home sick today and knowing that you were going to be at school all together without me made me feel lonely.  But you could probably tell I was getting sick.  I maybe shouldn't have even been there yesterday breathing on you.  Maddie's mom told me about some medicine that made me feel a bit better but last night even that wasn't working very well.  I need to stay home and...

Fun to See You at Conferences!

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Sunday, March 4, 2012,
It has been fun to visit with your parents about their wonderful children--yes, I mean you!  I think those of you who have come along would agree that it is kind of fun to be the center of attention, the star of the show so to speak.  Is that an idiom or metaphor or what?  Blog a comment about what kind of figurative language that was and you can have 4 tickets.

Enjoy your weekend.  See you Monday.  Mrs. Kovacs

My family lives in White Bear Lake. ____________My son John is married and lives in Turkey with his wife Pamela and son Jack and daughter Lydia. Hey, that makes me a grandmother--yikes! John is a teacher too. A couple years ago he taught at White Bear Lake but for the last couple years he's been teaching social studies to middle school kids at Hope Academy in Minneapolis. He also has taken classes at a seminary. He wrote a book called "The Historia" which you can buy on Amazon.com. He was a hockey player and played college hockey at Bethel. His wife is a lawyer worked at a big law firm in Minneapolis. Cool! Hey, guess what. I am a lawyer too!! This will be my 13th year teaching as I practiced law for over 15 years. Teaching is way more fun!! Now they are living in Turkey and simply trying to learn the language and make connections. This year my son will be teaching high school world history at an international school. __________My son Jim lives in Blaine with his wife Courtney. They both graduated from Winona State where they were star pitchers on their baseball and softball teams. Jim graduated from St. Thomas School of Law. He clerked for a judge and now he works for a law firm in Golden Valley. His wife graduated from Des Moines University Medical School where she studied to be a physical therapist. She works for Twin Cities Orthopedics. You can check out pictures of their wedding on the summer vacation tab. __________My son Joe graduated from Moorhead State. He, like his brothers was a good athlete and loved sports. He also is a great singer and performer and was Danny Zuko in Grease, Gaston in Beauty and the Beast, and Curly in Oklahoma--all in WBL high school. He has a teaching license and did some long term subbing in WBL most recently at Hugo Elementary School. Next he worked at Infinite Campus training teachers on software that his employer makes. He got to travel all over the United States. He is married to Emily, and there are pictures of them you can check out on the vacation tab as well. Emily is a pharmacist for CVS in Targets. They just moved to Washington DC so he could attend George Washington University and get an MBA. __________My son Jake graduated from University of Minnesota with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science. He is a superstar in math. He was a TA for a professor in the computer science department. He really likes to golf and was on the White Bear Lake golf team. He worked at Gem Lake so if you ever golf there, you may have seen Jake. Do you like golf? As soon as he graduated he started working full time at a company that writes online computer games. He spends his day writing code to create games. He loves that kind of writing, do you? He taught many of my students to write code in Scratch. _________Vlad officially became our son in June of 2010 although we have loved him since we met him a couple years before that. We traveled to his homeland, Latvia, 3 times to make him ours. He has been living with us since March of 2010. He graduated from WBL High School too. He traveled to China with the high school a couple years ago and wants to go back. Can you believe that you can travel with your classmates and friends when you are in high school? He is currently a senior at the University of Wisconsin, River Falls. He spent a semester in Seoul, S. Korea in a study abroad program through River Falls. We will officially be empty nesters. _________My husband John works for Collins Electrical Company as a project manager but he is amazing with computers. He set up this web site for me!! Thanks John.
