Grad Party!!

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Wednesday, June 22, 2011,
It was a huge success and it's over!  We had a great day with the sun and all.  Our back yard looked great with a newly stained deck, new patio tables and chairs and more.  The flowers were amazing, what with all the rain we've had.  The food was good and my sister and kids and husband were AMAZING helpers so...a great success.  The almost best part is that it's over!!  And now my house looks good.

We are now moving on to the wedding.  We are making the vidoe--kind of like your class video onl...

Summer!

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Monday, June 13, 2011,
I got to see both Rachel and Olivia Thomas play softball on Saturday at Otter.  They both ran home and slid in for a run.  It was so exciting!  They are not on the same team but both their teams were playing at the same time in the same tournament so it worked out great.

We are busy planting flowers and staining the decks and making food for Jake's grad party which is on Sunday the 19th.  This is also Father's Day.  Busy times.

I start teaching at Summer Academy tomorrow.  It is only for 3 week...

I Miss You Already!!

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Thursday, June 9, 2011,
You guys worked very hard today.  Thank you.

How many of you went home and showed your family your DVD?  You should watch it to make sure it works and to show your parents how hard you work at school!  I have 2 extra ones in the room and will be at school all day Friday so if yours doesn't work, come in and switch it with me.

Also, Preston, I have your magnets.  I called your house and told Parker so come on up on Friday to get them if you want.  Sperry, I have some of your toys to which you ca...

Emotions Run High

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Thursday, June 9, 2011,
There is the excitement of the upcoming summer, the sadness of the end of a school year, the tension that it won't be the same next year, and it is making for some unstable classroom behavior.

Someone took Sam Sperry's yearbook and it is someone from our class.  Please return it.  Stealing from a classmate is so
wrong.  Why would anyone do this?
The class video is FUN and reminds us of all the fun we've had together this year.
Some kids are not coming back next year--new school, new ...

Annie + Art = Awesome Day

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Tuesday, June 7, 2011,
What a fun field trip.  Annie was amazing.  All the supporting characters had about 5 roles each.  How cool would that be?  You wouldn't know if you were coming or going!  Did you hear them say they do 10 shows a week.  Wow!!  That is a lot of times doing the same show.  And a real dog!!  How cool is that that we got to see a dog actor!

Bring a big, sturdy bag tomorrow as you are taking most of your things home.  We will clean desks, clean lockers, pack a few books up and start working on the ...

What a Weekend Already

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Saturday, June 4, 2011,

Today was a shower for Courtney and Jim.  Pamela was giving it and we used my mom's house.  It was pretty fun.  Courtney got lots and lots of really pretty things.  And some fun ones too.  She got a tent and air mattress and a large cooler.  They are already talking about how much fun they will have using that this summer.  Courtney has never been camping!  Shocking.  We have a favorite site at O'Brien State Park and we plan to go there as a whole big group this summer.  That should be super ...

Movie making and stardom!

Posted by Jamie Kovacs on Wednesday, June 1, 2011,
We did some filming for our class movie.  Mr. Kovacs keeps saying he's not going to have time to make one this year.  Can you believe that?  That would be horrible!!  If you would like Mr. Kovacs to make our movie for us, please blog a comment that tells him a specific reason why he should take the time to make the movie.  He reads the blog all the time so he'll see it.  If he responds to yours because it is so convincing, you can have 4 tickets.

Today's chocolate challenge has to do with the ...

All About Me

Jamie Lyn Kovacs I am married to John Kovacs and have 5 sons, John age 33, Jim age 31, Joe age 26, Jake age 24, Vlad age 22. I also have 3 grandchildren, Jack and Lydia, who are the kids of my oldest son and his wife, and Baby Kennedy who is the newborn of my second son and his wife. The older kids are 5 and 2. My family lives in White Bear Lake. ____________My son John is married and lives in Turkey with his wife Pamela and son Jack and daughter Lydia. Hey, that makes me a grandmother--yikes! John is a teacher too. A couple years ago he taught at White Bear Lake but for the last couple years he's been teaching social studies to middle school kids at Hope Academy in Minneapolis. He also has taken classes at a seminary. He wrote a book called "The Historia" which you can buy on Amazon.com. He was a hockey player and played college hockey at Bethel. His wife is a lawyer worked at a big law firm in Minneapolis. Cool! Hey, guess what. I am a lawyer too!! This will be my 13th year teaching as I practiced law for over 15 years. Teaching is way more fun!! Now they are living in Turkey and simply trying to learn the language and make connections. This year my son will be teaching high school world history at an international school. __________My son Jim lives in Blaine with his wife Courtney. They both graduated from Winona State where they were star pitchers on their baseball and softball teams. Jim graduated from St. Thomas School of Law. He clerked for a judge and now he works for a law firm in Golden Valley. His wife graduated from Des Moines University Medical School where she studied to be a physical therapist. She works for Twin Cities Orthopedics. You can check out pictures of their wedding on the summer vacation tab. __________My son Joe graduated from Moorhead State. He, like his brothers was a good athlete and loved sports. He also is a great singer and performer and was Danny Zuko in Grease, Gaston in Beauty and the Beast, and Curly in Oklahoma--all in WBL high school. He has a teaching license and did some long term subbing in WBL most recently at Hugo Elementary School. Next he worked at Infinite Campus training teachers on software that his employer makes. He got to travel all over the United States. He is married to Emily, and there are pictures of them you can check out on the vacation tab as well. Emily is a pharmacist for CVS in Targets. They just moved to Washington DC so he could attend George Washington University and get an MBA. __________My son Jake graduated from University of Minnesota with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science. He is a superstar in math. He was a TA for a professor in the computer science department. He really likes to golf and was on the White Bear Lake golf team. He worked at Gem Lake so if you ever golf there, you may have seen Jake. Do you like golf? As soon as he graduated he started working full time at a company that writes online computer games. He spends his day writing code to create games. He loves that kind of writing, do you? He taught many of my students to write code in Scratch. _________Vlad officially became our son in June of 2010 although we have loved him since we met him a couple years before that. We traveled to his homeland, Latvia, 3 times to make him ours. He has been living with us since March of 2010. He graduated from WBL High School too. He traveled to China with the high school a couple years ago and wants to go back. Can you believe that you can travel with your classmates and friends when you are in high school? He is currently a senior at the University of Wisconsin, River Falls. He spent a semester in Seoul, S. Korea in a study abroad program through River Falls. We will officially be empty nesters. _________My husband John works for Collins Electrical Company as a project manager but he is amazing with computers. He set up this web site for me!! Thanks John. He is the IT guy for my mom, his parents, and our whole family!! My husband and I have a cute teddy bear puppy who is 1 and a half years old. He is very spoiled.
